Two Arrests Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault caused the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the injured during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault close to the scene. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people hurt by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
