Russian President Vladimir Putin Vows Uninterrupted Crude Oil Deliveries to the Indian Nation in Rebuff of American Demands

Amid a defiant statement to Western nations, President Vladimir Putin informed PM Narendra Modi that Russia is prepared to provide “uninterrupted” deliveries of oil to India. The announcement came when Putin and Modi met in New Delhi and declared their partnership were “immune to foreign coercion.”

A Message Aimed at the Western Countries

The statement, made on Friday, was widely seen to be targeted at Washington, who have tried to pressure New Delhi into curtailing its longstanding ties with Moscow. This comes is in response to previous Washington's moves, including additional tariffs on India over its purchase of Moscow's energy exports.

“Our nation is a dependable exporter of fuel and everything required for the advancement of India’s energy sector,” Putin remarked. “Moscow stands willing to continue securing the consistent supply of energy for the booming Indian economy.”

The Indian leader, without referencing crude explicitly, echoed the focus by saying that “a stable energy base has been a robust and crucial cornerstone of the bilateral cooperation.”

Questioning US Interference

Before the talks, during a media interview, Putin had questioned US interference over India's oil imports. Putin stated, “When Washington can claim the privilege to buy our nuclear fuel, how can you deny India claim the identical right?”

This trip represented his maiden journey to India since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, and the two nations undertook a deliberate show to project that the personal rapport between the men remained intact.

An Unusual Greeting

In a unusual move, Modi personally greeted Putin as he disembarked. The two exchanged a hearty embrace like old friends before holding a closed-door supper the night before the summit.

He later described India's partnership with Russia as “a beacon” and added it was “based on reciprocal esteem and profound confidence.”

Reaffirming Defence and Economic Ties

The bilateral summit produced several key agreements across military and trade relations. One significant result was the finalization of an strategic roadmap that runs to 2030, which targets to boost commerce to $100bn each year by the target year.

Furthermore pledged to restructure their military partnership. While Russia continues to be India's primary supplier of weapons, its share has reduced over the past decade as India works to diversify its sources.

The official release highlighted cooperation in the joint production of sophisticated weapons platforms, although direct mention of deals for the Su-57 fighter jet were omitted.

In conclusion, both nations restated that in the “present intricate, strained, and uncertain international environment, Russian-Indian ties stay durable to foreign influence.”
