Los Angeles Faces Record-Breaking High Temperatures Only Days After Severe Winter Storm.
After enduring torrential rains that resulted in floodwaters across parts of the city, Los Angeles is now confronting abnormally high weather for the end of February.
Record-Shattering Readings
During the day Friday, the temperature reached 91°F (33°C) in the city center, according to meteorologists. This easily surpasses the previous daily record for this date, which was eighty-eight degrees Fahrenheit and was established in 2025.
"Unusually high temperatures" were labeled on forecast maps for the region.
Safety Advisories
Authorities stated that Friday's heat posed an "higher threat for heat illness" for those at risk. Their recommendations suggested:
- Staying hydrated.
- Reducing outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
- Never leaving kids or animals unattended in a parked vehicle.
An Extreme Weather Swing
This sharp rise in temperature comes on the heels of a powerful storm system that struck the state last week. That storm brought heavy snow, strong winds, and thunderstorms to the mountains, causing flash flood warnings for millions residents.

Weekend Outlook
The outlook suggests a cooldown will arrive. Temperatures were predicted to decrease to around 61°F (16°C) in downtown LA by overnight.
Additional areas that reached 90°F were Burbank, Woodland Hills, and Long Beach. Additionally, Westwood, Camarillo, Santa Maria, and Oxnard were projected to reach the high 80s.
For the weekend, central Los Angeles can see temperatures in the 80s, with mid-70s temperatures expected for the start of March.
