The British player advanced to round three in three out of four Grand Slams in the current campaign.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has pulled out of the last two tournaments of the year due to a health issue she has been battling over the past 10 days.

Raducanu, aged 22 had planned to participate in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to regain her health prior to beginning next year's training.

These plans will include coach Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together again next season.

The tennis professional underwent blood pressure monitoring during her first-round match against Ann Li in Wuhan and withdrew when losing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She again required a doctor's assessment at this week's Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Her movement was with clear difficulty in the final set in the match with Zhu due to back discomfort that has affected her on several occasions in 2025.

Those results meant an encouraging season, in which Raducanu rose into the world's top 30 after more than three years since her previous ranking, concluded with three straight losses.

She held three match points prior to falling to Jessica Pegula in round three in Beijing last month.

The player achieved 28 victories this year and advanced to the semis in the Washington tournament, but her most impressive week was at the Miami event in March.

Ranked first in Britain made the last eight of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way before losing in a three-set match to Pegula, ranked fourth.

Her coach was Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role in time for the US Open.

The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was through the season's conclusion but they will keep working together, with a training block pencilled in for the end of the year.

Raducanu told that a three-day test period with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

She nearly succeeded to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati during August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she reached the third round before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
